2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara Review

Novice violin student with the "Suzuki method" are not allowed to touch their instruments for month. Aspiring musicians who are not driven to insanity by repeated fingering cardboard figures often go to beautiful music to make once. Too bad Suzuki Suzuki not practice, we were able to avoid all the weak and funny-looking conditions last Grand Vitara in favor of infinitely adept 2006 model. Despite obvious improvements since the Vitara rehearsal, the question remains: the new Grand Vitara is finally ready for Avery Fisher Hall?

To the Grand Vitara a headliner, Suzuki engineers drew their medium ute to the frame and started again. While the new Grand Outside a radical departure from the old two-toned, plastic coating and dimpled Subaru wannabe, it is still a deeply conservative style. Super-spy stealth touches – slim rails that rise ever so slightly from the roof, black-trimmed wheel wells, black side gills on the hood – add a welcome touch of aggression. Certainly remains something clunkiness. The side mirrors are one size too big for the cute ute, and huge taillights give the rear of a decidedly behavior. But they are the only flat note in an otherwise harmonious composition.

Inside added Suzuki a bit more stylistic flourish, like the circular design motif and seriously catchy Speed Racer seats. The clever, honeycomb-esque pattern inside round heating of the Vitara's vents makes almost forget the cheap-looking plastic around the shifter. The audio controls are as simple as playing Ed Grimley Triangle, and the silvery sound source buttons are as welcoming as a major seventh on a sunny spring day. Suzuki marked the aesthetic exuberance a welcome change from his fondness for Seattle weather interiors. For some reason, the Vitara are the indicators sotto voce, at least, the same applies to the cabin at speed.

A slim three-panel display (back on top of the dash) sings quietly volumes about an issue at the heart of many SUV owners: fossil fuel. The first two panels show the time and outside temperature, and the third, current fuel consumption. The absence of an average fuel economy calculation is annoying but not surprising. Who never drank the sluggish Vitara 2.7L V6 about one gallon refinery juice every 18 miles. Compared to its peers in the small SUV class, the Vitara is no Jared before Subway size appetite, but it's not the kind of noise Suzuki wants to put its drivers in heavy rotation.

For truly anemic gas mileage, just fill-up Vitara with stuff. The brief opening of the tailgate is a bit mean, but to facilitate the 60-40 split rear seats correct CostCo expedition. If you and five colleagues decide to relieve the business from him mayo supply could be a follower in order. Can pull the Grand Vitara 300 ten-pound cans of salad gloop-a number that Honda CRV peak by more than 50 glasses. While this factoid could irrelevant (not to mention disgusting) for the vast majority of lifestylers Vitara, Suzuki props keep it real macho in the cute ute set.

Rev the Grand Vitara V6 sharp and solid and it growls like a prone-to-grumpiness cat will wake after his fourth nap of the day. Once threw, the Vitara is a bullish autobox Conductor: five-speed manual arpeggiates the gears up as a fleet-fingered prodigy. Bringing the bottom of contralto Vitara is a different matter. The engine knocked occasionally with the transmission slipping into an embarrassing stutter. It could do with our test model 7k mileage (press cars odometer readings should be calculated in dog years) to do. This may also be the fact that for the first time that I have the brakes I thought I was going to make SpongeBob came.

In general, my ute cornering expectations hovering somewhere just above my level of interest in the latest version Kenny G. Despite the lead frame framed high center console Vitara gravity, he negotiated the curves with admirable ease. Winding through the curves, the Vitara tip factor was subdued enough to be appropriate spirited progress. Makes sense, the trumpets Suzuki Grand Vitara off-road abilities, rather than their capability curves. I gave the Vitara as thorough an off-road test as obligations may and found the SUV to be a stalwart performer. During a winter rain, it hit several high notes on pockmarked, winding gravel roads, without even losing his place once. Bravo Maestro!

With the small SUV segment more crowded than the Englebert Humperdinck, who. At a Phoenix Wal-Mart, Suzuki needed a ninth stage caliber performance to reach the Top of the Pops And so does – more or less. The new Grand Vitara is in tune with many classic tracks to the highway and baroque patches of dirt. Unfortunately for his Japanese master, the truck still needs a bit more polished before it is ready for Radio City. Each passage in the Grand Vitara three-movement symphony – styling, performance and handling – has a few striking sour notes to ultimately make Suzuki Grand Vitara more Salieri than Mozart.
