Report: Bob Lutz may stay on at GM

Bob Lutz, the iconic and often polemic Vice Chairman of General Motors’ global product development team, announced back in February that he would be retiring from the company at the end of the year. With GM expected to emerge from bankruptcy protection at the end of the week as a leaner, more focused and possibly a greener company, there are reports now that Lutz may not be retiring after all.
The information comes from a person familiar with GM’s plans, who told the Detroit Free Press that 77-year old Lutz will have a clearly defined operating role with the company.
