Florida’s First All-Electric Car Dealership Opens
Posted on 29. Nov, 2010 by admin.
A new-car dealership opening in Florida will be the first electric-only car lot for the Sunshine State.
Suncoast Electric Vehicles will open in St. Petersburg in three weeks and will sell the Wheego Whip LiFe.
The Wheego is a Chinese-sourced but California-assembled electric car. It has a 100-mile range per charge, can go up to 70 mph and is highway certified. The Wheego Whip LiFe is available for $32,995 before a $7,500 tax credit. That’s around the same price as the 2011 Nissan Leaf.
The dealership will be equipped with solar-fueled charging stations, which will allow Suncoast customers to charge up for free.
It seems a bit of gamble opening an EV-only dealership in one of America’s most car-dependent states, but Suncoast Electric Vehicles owner Richard Nimphie said he’s already sold 12 EVs before opening his showroom. There’s no word on what other electric vehicles will be sold at the dealership, but boutique automakers like Think and Coda could be possibilities.

Review: 2011 GMC 2500HD
Posted on 29. Nov, 2010 by admin.
Styling changes at GM seem to either come either in questionable radical leaps like the Pontiac Aztec, or creep glacially by, and GM’s 2500HD trucks definitely fit into the latter category. Despite being fully redesigned in 2007 as a 2008 model year truck and gaining a “full mid-cycle refresh” for the 2010 model year, the [...]

Video: Lingenfelter 2010 Camaro SS Runs 158-MPH 8.99 Quarter Mile
Posted on 29. Nov, 2010 by admin.
A stonking 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 engine is enough meat for most Camaro owners, but not for the obsessives at Lingenfelter. Instead, they shoehorned a supercharged LS9 into the engine bay of a heavily-modified 2010 Camaro SS. And then they shot it full of nitrous. The result? A slick-smoking monster of a straight-strip beast, and the first 2010 Camaro…

Porsche Confirms Cajun Small SUV
Posted on 29. Nov, 2010 by admin.
Porsche confirmed rumors today that it plans to produce an SUV smaller than its popular Cayenne, to be named Cajun. Spicy name aside, the Cajun will likely be derived from a Volkswagen product like the VW Tiguan or Audi Q5, just as the Cayenne shares a platform with the VW Touareg and Q7.
While the three companies have shared ties before, the German marquees are undergoing a new alignment with VW taking a majority of Porsche ownership. While Porsche gets SUV development from VW, it will return the favor with sports cars and sedans. We’d guess VW and Audi could use the Boxster and Panamera platforms.
What do you think? Does the world need a small Porsche SUV? Let us know in the comments.

Spy Shots: 2012 Jaguar XF Facelift
Posted on 29. Nov, 2010 by admin.
Two months ago we brought you the first spy shots of the facelift work being done to the still relatively new Jaguar XFR, and now we have images of the standard 2012 XF as it readies for its freshened look. Like the XFR, the work is primarily cosmetic, and focuses on the lights and bumpers at each end of the car. Due to the heavy psychedelic wrap…

Before the Baja 1000, a Life-Saving Rescue
Posted on 29. Nov, 2010 by admin.
By Robby DeGraff
On Nov. 17, the night before the Score Baja 1000, Kent Kroeker, his business partner Colt Hubble, co-driver Jeremy Graczyk and his father, Jim Graczyk, were on a reconnaissance run in a pre-runner-equipped KORE Performance Ram 1500. Driving along the off-road desert racecourse at a safe brisk pace, the Ram was dangerously overtaken at high speed by the No. 86 Traxxas trophy truck driven by Mike Jenkins and Josh Baldwin.
With the trophy truck’s horn blaring, Jenkins and Baldwin flew by the Ram at what was believed to be 70 percent of race pace speed. Moments later, Graczyk and Kroeker found the reckless trophy truck flipped over and broken up. Another vehicle was crushed and destroyed; a minivan driven by a civilian lost a head-on collision with the trophy truck.
Jenkins and Baldwin appeared to be unhurt but were confused and startled. The minivan’s driver lay trapped in a heap of metal. Jeremy Graczyk and Kroeker — both members of the U.S. Marine Corps reserve — tried to save the driver. Using their first aid and combat medical training, Graczyk and Kroeker climbed into the smoldering minivan.
After rescuing the driver that night in the Mexican desert, the KORE Performance team went on to finish in second place in the Baja 1000 in the team’s modified TRX4 Ram 1500.

Video: Rhys Millen Drifts Red Bull Genesis Coupe Up Brazilian Mountain
Posted on 29. Nov, 2010 by admin.
The art of drifting is often mocked as the figure skating of motorsports. While that may be a fair comparison–there are no finish lines, only judges–it still takes an incredible degree of control and skill to pull it off well. Rhys Millen has that skill. This video shows Millen sliding his 750-horsepower Red Bull/RMR Hyundai Genesis Coupe up the…
