Review: 2011 Kia Sportage EX
Posted on 31. Dec, 2010 by admin.
The relationship between automotive writers and manufacturers is based on trust in the basic fairness (or pliability) of the writer, and usually it’s incumbent upon the writer to establish their reliability before being trusted with a week-long tester. What many PR types and press fleet managers don’t seem to understand is that allowing even the [...]

Top 10 Photos of 2010
Posted on 31. Dec, 2010 by admin.
As 2010 comes to a close this weekend, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on how this year was truly awesome for the car industry.
I'm not talking about corporate bailouts, green technology or F1 racing in America. I'm talking about the number of well-designed and excellent-looking cars that were released.
After a few visually mediocre years full of boring SUVs and generic family sedans, 2010 marked the return of the well-designed car. It's a miracle. These days, manufacturers are putting a lot of thought into interior and exterior aesthetics as well as manufacturing cost, fuel economy, performance, comfort and utility.
Let's hope this trend continues. I can't wait to see what comes out of Detroit in a few weeks. Have a Happy new year!

Top 10 Ugliest Car Grilles
Posted on 31. Dec, 2010 by admin.
It’s surprising how the grille can make or break a car’s design. This simple front opening often plays a key role in defining a car brand, such as Jeep’s seven-bar grille or Buick’s waterfall design. More often than not, automakers put the grille to good use. Still, some can look garish (blinding chrome!), strange or just plain ugly. Check out our top 10 worst offenders below.

Mexican Drug Wars Spiking Armored Car Sales?
Posted on 30. Dec, 2010 by admin.
Crazy as it sounds, it looks like the heavily-armed (and apparently armored) Mexican drug cartels, bent on cowing or overtaking the government, are actually doing a morsel of good amidst all their evil: boosting armored car and SUV sales. The news, fresh out of Mexico City via Reuters, reveals that armored car sales are up 20 percent in Mexico…

2011 Lincoln MKX Recalled For Electrical Fire Risk
Posted on 30. Dec, 2010 by admin.
The Chinese may have called 2010 the year of the tiger, but for us car geeks, it’s been the year of the recall. With over 20 million recalled so far, the latest addition of 14,737 Ford and Lincoln pickups and crossovers is just the tiniest of drops in the bucket–but the problem could be huge. An electrical short may develop in the body control…

The new and largely already revealed 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK won’t be showing in Detroit, according to the latest reports, instead opting for a debut during Mercedes’ 125th anniversary celebrations January 29. We may get a look at the car, however, in Mercedes’ first Super Bowl spot. The ad, scheduled for 60 seconds during the fourth quarter, is…

Recall Alert: 2011 Dodge Ram 1500
Posted on 30. Dec, 2010 by admin.
Chrysler Group is recalling more than 56,000 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks over an issue with the rear axle bearing.
On some models built between September 2009 and December 2010, not enough lubricant was placed in the rear axle bearing. As a result, the bearing could seize, increasing the risk of an accident.
The bearing failure typically occurred within the first 500 miles, preceded by a groan or grinding noise, according to some reports.
Chrysler will notify affected owners in February. Dealerships will add 20 ounces of fluid to the rear axle bearing.
For more info, owners can contact Chrysler at 800-853-1403 or NHTSA’s hot line at 888-327-4236.
