2012 Nissan Sentra: Car Seat Check

Posted on 08. May, 2012 by in Auto News

Nissan Sentra compact sedan can be the automaker smallest cars, but you would not know it by his back seat. The Sentra the seat is wide and spacious, and we were surprised that we fit almost three child safety seats on the second row, a feat usually reserved for large sedans and crossovers.

For the Car Seat Check, we use a Graco SnugRide 30 rear-facing infant seat safety seat, a Britax Roundabout convertible child-safety seat and Graco high-back seat turbocharger.

The front seats are adjusted to a comfortable position for a 6-foot driver and a smaller passenger. The three child seats installed in the second row. The child seat installed sitting behind the driver's seat, and the infant seat and convertible seats behind the passenger seat. We install the car seat in the second row of the middle seat with the booster and convertible in the outboard seats to see if three car seats fit. If there's a third row, we install the booster seat and a forward-facing convertible.

Here's how the Nissan Sentra has in Cars.com 's Car Seat Check:

Latch system:
There are two types of the lower latch anchors in the outboard seats. They were difficult to access for two reasons: The seat reservation, meet where the back and bottom cushion is narrow, and the seat cushion is quite firm, so we really pack our hands in the room had attached to the anchor. There are three tether anchors on the rear shelf. They are a little off-center, the tether made to draw. The Sentra, the head restraints are removable and adjustable, but to facilitate the access bit.

Booster seat:
The booster fit well, thanks to the wide, flat seat cushion. The buckles are small, so it might be hard to find for little hands. They are also on rigid bases, so they do not sink into the seat when depressed.

Convertible seat:
The rear-facing convertible took a lot of space in the back seat, so we had to move the front passenger seat two clicks to fit it. The passenger had about two inches of space before the knees hit the glove box, but. It was easier to use the convertible's rigid bolt connections to find the anchor than traditional connections. The forward-facing convertible also good on the wide, flat seat, but always on the inner anchor latch was hard because it was the rigid buckle. In the way and hard to move out of the way

Infant-safety seat:
The front passenger seat had to remain in its retracted position up to accommodate the infant seat. This traditional seat connections were hard to connect the latch anchor.

How many car seats fit in the second row?
Two, but three almost fit.

Editor's note: For three car seats – infant-safety seat, convertible and booster seats – to fit in a car, our criterion is that a child sitting in the booster seat must reach the buckle. Parents should also remember that they can use the Latch system or a seat belt to install a car seat.
