2013 Audi Allroad: First Drive

Audi main goal for 2013 is to "evoke an emotional response through its range of products," said Scott Keogh, Audi of America President. I understand, as do cars like the R8, A7 and S5 so, how does Audi plan to do to him and his family car, the new 2013 Allroad?

The mere act of bringing back a car that is loved and desired among the high-income suburban family set from 2001 to 2005 will bring back memories. While I (I'm a car girl at heart) enjoyed my first ride in the Allroad immense, see the slim S5 stared at me in the rearview mirror with his new guyliner-pipe look inspired LED daytime running lights I was a little annoyed. I do not think that's the feeling from Audi for the transition.

Sure the Allroad has the same smoldering daytime running lights, but there's a reason not to buy Christian Grey Anastasia Steele one Allroad in "50 Shades of Grey". It's just not as sexy. It looks a little like me at the moment, dressed in functional yoga clothes while working from my home office with kiddos hanging around in the background. Why is it that the moment you have a family to look your options for all family cars as they carry are stretched velor sweats? What I need is glamoflage automotive industry: a car, I jump in no matter how hectic my morning and look and feel together only make as a result of the stylized metal jacket me. Are you listening, Audi?

Soccer-Mom style regardless of the Allroad offers small families some great benefits. Surrender to the A4 Avant Allroad rises to its ground clearance of more than an inch to a total of 7.1 inches. Together with the Audi Quattro all-wheel drive and an off-road electronic stability control system, the Allroad, Audi refers to as what is "urban-assault vehicle."

I drove the Allroad on the Continental Divide, to over 12,000 feet, and was impressed with the engine's ability to keep users motivated. If there gunning truck on the pass goes, replied the Allroad the 211-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine instead of moaning and groaning quietly in an open display of anger and exhaustion. I appreciate the opportunity, the Allroad switch to manual mode and downshifting to keep my speed down from over the pass.

While steering can feel a little light for enthusiasts who Allroad is so easy to read and easy for the average consumer. The Allroad is 37.7 meter turning circle will help to facilitate the use in the city as well as parking lots or car pool lanes.

Inside, the Allroad has some ergonomic challenges for families. The tilt / telescoping steering wheel is a help to the driver, but as extendable to me it angled upward, what my ultimate wheel position be elevated for my convenience (despite the driver's seat height adjustment). Even if the sun visor slide no extender or on the pivot latch so it lands, the bare minimum protection. Be sure that your oversized Jackie O's to wear when she was driving.

Technology has been upgraded significantly to the Allroad with the addition of the new Audi Connect. This provides a rolling Wi-Fi hotspot (so children can go online to work on their homework on the way home from school), a new Google Maps database Google satellite images overlaid with the current in the DVD database, images street -view in cities, as well as weather, traffic, gas prices, news and travel information. Mark Dahncke, Audi Product Communications Manager and father of five young children, uses Google Earth via Audi Connect help him soccer fields for away games and Google Search near water slides find on hot summer days. He also appreciates the opportunity for kids to use the in-car Wi-Fi to stream their own music and play video games with friends.

From a security perspective, recognizes the Allroad improved adaptive cruise control stationary objects and stops the vehicle completely if you are traveling less than 19 mph.

For passengers in the back seat, could the narrow center seating position with a large hump in the second row of the bottom of this rather than a four-passenger car make a five-person claiming an Audi to be there. I will evaluate this further at a later date when the drive Allroad with my three kids in tow. Plastic covers hide the lower Latch anchors in the outboard seating positions. The covers pop off and offers easy access to the anchor when installing child safety seats.

I look forward to more time in the Allroad with my family in tow, to test how well it works in the real world. I'm going to the "Grey"-inspired date night, save when I drive an R8.
