Ford has no plans to consolidate Lincoln and Mercury dealers

Ford's more luxury oriented brands, Lincoln and Mercury, are often sold alongside each other in the same dealerships. But while Ford was previously encouraging certain Lincoln and Mercury dealers to consider also selling lesser Blue Oval models, company execs now want to keep most of its Lincoln and Mercury dealers exclusively selling the upmarket models – especially in metro areas. Ford is tipped to be in the process of selecting around 50 markets in which to keep Ford-branded vehicles out of its luxury dealerships

Bikes Defeat Cars in San Jose Race

Bike to Work, an organization in San Jose, Calif., held its sixth annual Commuter Race, which pits riders of a hybrid bicycle, a regular bicycle and a tandem bike against a Toyota Prius and Zenn all-electric car. The treasure hunt-style race usually takes around half an hour, and in this case all three bikers beat the cars by considerable amounts — as much as 10-20 minutes

If cars were ordered by the foot, then the Ford Crown Victoria is exactly what you’d get if you walked into a Ford dealer and said “I’d like 17.6 feet of car please.” Other than length, Ford’s fleet-duty work horse has absolutely no outstanding features what-so-ever and very few features worth mentioning. Still, the Crown Vic and its panther playmates (the Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car) are perennial favorites among fleet buyers and, uh, fleet buyers. In fact, in anticipation of its removal from the retail field of battle, the Ford website doesn’t even list the Crown Victoria under “passenger cars.” Should they?
