Toyota Rebuts Professor’s Sudden-Acceleration Test Methods

A recent demonstration of sudden acceleration in a Toyota vehicle conducted by a university professor is "highly unlikely to occur naturally and can only be contrived in a laboratory," Toyota said today. The automaker went on to say there isn't any evidence that this situation has happened in the real world. In a video webcast for the media, Toyota also showed that similar, dramatic engine-speed increases can be induced in other brands of vehicles using this testing method.

Toyota Examines Repaired Cars, Rebuts Professor’s Testing

Earlier this week, a handful of complaints — the number is now up to around 60 — were filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about cars already repaired under the two major Toyota recalls. This brought up a new slew of questions regarding the company’s fixes and its throttle control system.
